Adding Video Effects, PiP Objects, Particle Effects, Titles and Transitions
The sections below describe the procedures for adding video effects, PiP objects, particle effects, titles and transitions into the workspace.
Note: if required, you can download and import addition PiP objects, particle effects and titles from DirectorZone. See Downloading Templates from DirectorZone for more information. |
Adding Video Effects
To add a video effect to a portion of a clip in the timeline, do this:
- select an effect and then click to add it to the Effect Track at the current position of the timeline slider.
- drag an effect from the Effects Room into the Effect Track directly beneath the clip(s) in the Master Video Track that you want to apply it to.
- right-click on an effect and select Add/Replace in Timeline to add or replace the Effect Track at the current position of the Timeline slider as required.
You can add a random video effect at the current position of the Timeline slider by clicking and then selecting Add Random Video Effect.
Note: click the Modify button to edit the effect’s options. See Modifying a Video Effect. |
To add a video effect to an entire clip in the timeline, do this:

Adding PiP Objects
To add a PiP object to the timeline, do this:
Note: you can add additional PiP tracks to your project’s timeline in the Track Manager, allowing you to have up to nine PiP objects displayed on a video at the same time. See Track Manager for more information. |
- select an object and then click to add it to the PiP Track at the current position of the timeline slider.
- drag an object from the PiP Objects Room into the desired position in the PiP track.
- right-click on an object and select Add/Replace in Timeline to add or replace the object at the current position of the Timeline slider as required.

Once you add objects to the PiP Track, click the Modify button to edit its placement, motion and more in the PiP Designer. See Modifying PiP Effects in the PiP Designer for more information.
Adding Particle Effects
To add a particle effect to the timeline, do this:
- select an particle effect and then click to add it to the PiP Track at the current position of the timeline slider.
- drag a particle effect from the Particle Room into the desired position in the PiP Track.
- right-click on an object and select Add/Replace in Timeline to add or replace the particle effect at the current position of the Timeline slider as required.

Once you add a particle effect to the PiP Track, click the Modify button to edit its properties in the Pa
rticle Designer. See Modifying Particle Effects in the Particle Designer for more information.
Adding Title Effects
To add a title effect to the timeline, do this:
You can add a random title effect at the current position of the timeline slider by clicking and then selecting Add Random Title Effect.

Once you add a title template to the Title Track, click the Modify button to edit it in the Title Designer. See Modifying Title Effects in the Title Designer for more information.
Adding Transitions
To add a transition to the timeline, do this:
Note: you can manually set the duration of the transition. See Setting Clip Duration for more information. |
To add random transitions to all clips in the timeline:
Click on in the library window and selecting Apply Random Transition Effect to All or Apply Fading Transition to All.
